Evidence for Learning defines small-group tuition as one educator working with two to five students.

Its Australasian review points to promising learning and communication benefits while noting that local evidence remains limited. That is why EduPrism caps every group at 1:5 and tracks each student's progress.

Why EduPrism is different

Plenty of centres say “small groups”. Almost none of them mean this.

Some run lecture-style classes of fifteen to thirty, where a quiet child can hide for a whole term. Others advertise low ratios but hand out silent worksheets and mark the answers. EduPrism does neither: five students maximum, matched by level, taught live by the same specialist every week.

“Every child deserves a mentor. At EduPrism, they learn with the same dedicated expert every single session.”

Live small-group sessions, every week
01

Groups matched by level, capped at five

Never stretched to eight or twenty. Groups are formed from diagnostic findings — by level and pace, not by who happened to be free at 4:30pm.

02

The same specialist, every single week

Career educators with PhDs, Masters and academic backgrounds — not casual undergraduates who rotate out at university exam time.

03

Taught, not supervised

No silent worksheet piles marked by an aide. Students explain their reasoning aloud, then prove it independently.

04

Growth Guaranteed, in writing

If your child isn't showing measurable progress, the next session is free.

A note from our founder
"What makes EduPrism unique is that we are built around the student, not the subject. One dedicated mentor carries each child's progress from their first session to their final exam. Progress here is not left to chance. It is engineered, deliberately, every time."

After fifteen years in classrooms and labs, I kept meeting the same student: bright, willing, and quietly lost in a room of thirty. Not behind — simply never seen closely enough for anyone to notice where the thread broke.

So we built EduPrism the other way around. Groups are capped at five. The tutor who meets your child in week one is still there in their final term, because trust is what makes a child admit what they don't understand. Every family starts with a free diagnostic session and a written report, so we begin with evidence rather than assumptions.

If we don't move your child forward, the next session is on us. That isn't marketing. It's the standard I'd want for my own family.

How it works

From first contact to lasting results.

Five steps. One tutor. One consistent group. Progress that is inevitable, not accidental.

1

Free Assessment

Day 1

A genuine diagnostic conversation — not a sales call. You leave with clarity about where your child is, regardless of what you decide next.

2

Group Matching

Week 1

Matched by academic level, learning style, and group dynamics. Once placed, your child's tutor and group are theirs for the duration. We do not rotate.

3

Personalised Learning Plan

Week 1

An individual plan within the group context — specific gaps, sequences, and milestones. Shared with parents and revisited as your child progresses.

4

Weekly Group Sessions

Ongoing

Each session builds directly on the last, with a familiar tutor and group your child settles into. Parents receive session notes after every lesson.

5

Progress Review

Every 4 weeks

Formal review every four weeks. Transparent, shared with parents. If progress is not where it should be, we say so and we change what needs changing.

Selective science school placements

“We've been with EduPrism for over 10 years now. It started with my eldest daughter, and the experience was so good that my second child couldn't wait to start — now even my youngest is taking classes.”

What makes EduPrism different is that the tutors teach beyond the syllabus. They spark curiosity, build a scientific mindset, and push them to become independent thinkers. They take the time to understand each child as an individual and craft an approach that works specifically for them.

Both my daughter and son made it into selective science school — but honestly, that's just the surface. What EduPrism has really done is set them up for success in life.

“We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact EduPrism had on our son's learning journey that made him get through selective exams. His tutor's dedication, patience and genuine care create an environment where children feel encouraged to learn and grow. We had gone through other learning centres but EduPrism's atmosphere has been great.”

Good grades at school
“The tutoring here is knowledgeable, talented, and experienced. Unique teaching methods encourage children with different thinking styles to explore their own ways of understanding. My two kids have varied interests and learning styles, but they both love the approach and have been getting good grades at school. We highly recommend EduPrism.”

Long-term mentorship
“It's been a great learning experience since day one. Before assessments, our tutor boosts morale — helping students plan, focus and manage their time, with prompt feedback. Our daughter is now dedicated to classes, finishing homework, and comfortable sharing her weak areas. He also guides us as parents — firmness when needed, humour to keep calm, support when it counts. This is our long-term journey with EduPrism.”

Results significantly improved

“I asked my daughter after her selection to the John Monash Science School (JMSS) what she credits most for her success, and her answer was the classes and sessions at EduPrism. We could see the encouraging change in her confidence, speed and methods towards Maths and Science. It brought out the best in her, praised by all her high school teachers.”

Real concerns. Real answers.

Every doubt you have about online tutoring is legitimate.

We address the most common questions from parents who want the best for their children's education.

Australian parents thoughtfully weighing an online tutoring session for their child

“My child will just switch tabs and zone out.”

Sessions are built around active problem-solving with the tutor cold-calling and students showing working live. The small group dynamic adds peer accountability solo sessions simply can't replicate.

“I won't know if they're actually understanding.”

Understanding is demonstrated — not assumed. Tutors have real-time dashboard view of every student's work. Post-session reports give parents evidence after every lesson.

“Will a small group give my child enough attention?”

EduPrism groups are deliberately sized to preserve individual attention. Our tutors know every student by name, learning profile, and specific gaps.

“Maths needs pen and paper.”

Agreed. Handwritten problem-solving is fully integrated. Students use traditional pen and paper and show working directly to their tutor — or write on the shared whiteboard.

“My child will feel isolated learning online.”

The small group model directly addresses this — students work alongside peers, see each other's cursors on the shared whiteboard, and develop the peer accountability that sustains motivation.

“Online tutoring will exhaust my child.”

Fatigue comes from passive sessions. EduPrism sessions are short, focused, and cognitively intense. The group energy keeps them dynamic, not draining.
